A nice Ontarian wrote to tell me that a portion of my web site had been copied entirely without attribution to one "PenguinSecurity.net" -- He even provided me two URLs to look at:The first URL is a page I wrote up several years ago when I was a DB2/Solaris administrator. I wrote that page up for an Oracle DBA who was going to be transitioning to DB2. That particular Oracle DBA's name was Graham Bartlett, who, if you look through the text, you will notice is named in a couple of the examples. The second URL looks like it's been copied verbatim from my site with no attribution that I can find. Looking at the site PenguinSecurity.net, it looks like it's entirely composed of copyright violations. I suspect that the site owner ("sevenj?") doesn't write anything on that site, as every article posted is dramatically different in style. In some cases, however, take this URL for example: http://penguinsecurity.net/pensec/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=269, there appears to be attribution to source (a Linux Jounal article in that case). Given that the front page of this site http://penguinsecurity.net/pensec/index.php has this bit of text on it: "Copyright© 2002-2006 PenguinSecurity dot Net. All Rights Reserved" it looks like foul play. Perhaps this is supposed to be just sevenj's dumping ground for random thoughts. If so, it'd be nice for him to give attribution to the sources. Given I don't see any way on the site to contact the site owner, I figured it'd be best just to publicize the case in case others' copyrights have also been infringed. UPDATE(27 March 2006) - The friendly Ontarian had attempted to email the webmaster at the domain, and the message finally bounced. It looks like the owner of the site is either too incompetent to set up email, or doesn't want to be contacted. --
